UK Home Office prepare for possible mass immigration

The United Kingdom’s Home Office says it is drawing up contingency plans to cope with a possible influx of immigration from Greece if the eurozone collapses.

Citizens from nations within the European Union are largely entitled to work anywhere in the single market.

But British Home Secretary Theresa May has revealed that work is ongoing to restrict European immigration in the event of a financial collapse.

In addition May says trends are being examined to see whether immigration was rising from countries with stricken economies.

She says if the eurozone broke up, people looking for work outside their countries may see Britain as an attractive alternative.

However, Labour MP Denis Macshane hit back, is accusing the Home Secretary of stoking up tension and seeking to implement restrictions that were impractical.
