Trinidad newspapers' blogs could hurt Muslim leader's trial - attorneys

The editors-in-chief of two Trinidadian daily newspapers have been summoned to court amid concerns by attorneys that public comments may affect the trial of Muslim leader Yasin Abu Bakr.



Bakr is charged with promoting a terrorist act following comments he made during a sermon in 2005.



Bakr’s attorney Wayne Sturge said he was concerned about comments made by the public on the blogs of the Trinidad Express and Trinidad Guardian internet sites as they relate to the trial.



Subpoenas have been issued for the editors-in-chief of the two newspapers to appear before Justice Mark Mohammed on Monday.



Bakr is facing two counts of inciting a riot, demanding money by menace and inciting others to breach the peace.
