WICB offers retainer contracts to players

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have offered retainer contracts to 15 players, ahead of the start of the new first class season.



A release from the WICB yesterday, said contracts had been offered to mainly young players, in keeping with the objectives of the Board’s Draft Strategic Plan 2008 to 2012.



Four Jamaican players are among the selected players. They are Chris Gayle, Brenton Parchment, Daren Powell and Jerome Taylor.



Retainer contracts were also offered to top batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo and Fidel Edwards.



Other players offered retainer contracts were Sewnarine Chattergoon, Runako Morton, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Darren Sammy and Devon Smith.
