Canada closes Iranian embassy

Canada’s Foreign Ministry says it is closing its embassy in Iran and will be expelling the remaining Iranian diplomats.

The Canadian government has cited Iran's support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the failure to comply with United Nations inspectors as the reason for the move.

The government says it has given Iranian diplomats five days to leave Canada.

It also says it views the government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world.
