Federal Reserve hacked

The US's central bank has confirmed that information was stolen from its servers during a hack attack.



The Federal Reserve says it has contacted individuals whose personal information had been involved.



The agency says it’s aware that information was obtained by exploiting a temporary vulnerability in a website vendor product.



However a spokeswoman is quoted as saying that exposure was fixed shortly after discovery and is no longer an issue.



She said it did not affect critical operations of the Federal Reserve system.
