Maduro accuses Uribe of assassination plot

Published:Saturday | May 4, 2013 | 6:57 PM

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused former Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe of plotting to assassinate him.

Maduro says he has evidence that right-wing Venezuelan politicians were involved in the plot.

However, Uribe, who was a fierce critic of late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, dismissed Maduro's accusation as immature.

Maduro has made several allegations of conspiracies against him since he won the disputed elections last month.

The official election results show that he won by a narrow margin of 1.49 per cent, but opposition leader Henrique Capriles is challenging the result, claiming that there were irregularities.
