Trinidad and Tobago’s Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday is calling for a national unity government in Trinidad and Tobago.

He says the Patrick Manning administration has failed to tackle rising crime and the high cost of living.

According to Panday a unity government is the best way to deal with rising crime and other issues facing the twin island republic.

He says his party is prepared to have discussions in the public domain.

Mr. Panday says the talks will be aimed at allowing the participants to decide what could be done now to rescue the country and its people from economic and social problems.
