Latif withdraws academy resignation

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif withdrew his resignation as wicketkeeping coach of the National Cricket Academy today after the cricket board denied appointing Salim Malik as head coach of the academy.

A court last month lifted a life ban on Malik imposed for involvement in match fixing, allowing him to resume his involvement in cricket.

Latif had given evidence to the initial Pakistan Cricket Board-commissioned inquiry that recommended a life ban for Malik.

Latif had quit in protest yesterday after Malik claimed that he had been appointed head coach of the academy.
