Jamaica’s senior cricketers departed this morning for Guyana to defend their West Indies Cricket Board One-Day title.

The experienced 27-year-old Tamar Lambert will lead the 14-man squad, which will be without eight of their senior players who are with the West Indies team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

There are three newcomers in the Jamaican squad. They are West Indies Under-19 opening batsman Horace Miller, all-rounder Yanick Elliott, and leg spinner Gavin Wallace.

Jamaica will open their campaign against Barbados when the tournament begins on Thursday.

In the other opening round games, Canada will play Leeward Islands at Everest and hosts Guyana meet Windward Islands at Guyana National Stadium at Providence.

The format is not a round robin but dictates that teams face each other for the first few rounds on a seeding set-up.

The two semi-finals are set for November 21 and 22 at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence. The final will be played on November 23, also at the National Stadium at Providence.
