The African Union has applauded Zimbabwe for holding peaceful elections.
However, it has made no mention of allegations of vote rigging by the main opposition candidate.
At the same time, several African Union observers say they noted several shortcomings in Wednesday's election in which president Robert Mugabe was returned to power.
The problems included voters being turned away, late publication of polling stations and biased media reporting.
