Bermuda hospital facelift
The government in Bermuda is to spend US$315 million to upgrade one of its health facilities over the next five years.
The Bermuda Hospitals Board unveiled its five-year plan yesterday for upgrading the King Edwards the Seventh Memorial hospital.
Chief executive officer at the Bermuda Hospital Board, David Hill, says the upgrading work will begin with the construction of two new wings on either side of the current building.
A central utility plant is also to be constructed.
Construction on the two wings is expected to begin in two years and is expected to cost 260 million dollars.
He says renovation over the next five years will cost about 55 million dollars.
The upgrades will ensure that the hospital has the 50 per cent more space said to be needed to meet healthcare needs.
