Warner sends out pre-action protocol letter to CONCACAF, others

Austin Jack Warner has sent pre-action protocol letters to the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and former Barbados chief justice, Sir David Simmons over the contents of a report that had been damning of him.



The former CONCACAF president, Warner, has also sent similar letters to all other authors of the report and is demanding an apology and withdrawal to be published internationally within 28 days plus costs and damages.



Sir David had chaired the CONCACAF Ethics Committee that reported Warner as being fraudulent in his management of the football grouping as well as the ownership of the Centre of Excellence.



Warner, a former national security minister in the Kamla Persad Bissessar administration, had criticised the report released in Panama in April and also questioned the procedure used to gather the information, describing it as flawed.



The report had accused Warner of using deceptive methods to secure funds from CONCACAF and FIFA, as well as induce FIFA to transfer funds earmarked for development purposes to bank accounts he controlled.



The Ethics Committee included retired United States District Court judge Ricardo Urbina and ex-Pricewaterhouse Coopers partner and auditor Ernesto Hempe.
