DR Congo troops to withdraw

Rebels loyal to General Laurent Nkunda in the Democratic Republic of Congo said they are withdrawing from two fronts in order for humanitarian agencies to deliver aid.
A spokesman for the rebels, Colonel Jean Muhire, said they would also be withdrawing in a bid to show their commitment to peace following a meeting on Sunday, with United Nations envoy Olusegun Obasanjo.
The rebels will reportedly be withdrawing for a distance 25 miles on the Kanyabayonga-Nyanzale front and the Kabasha-Kiwanja front.
However, no mention has been was made of the front line near Goma city, where the two sides are separated by a dormant lava field created by a nearby volcano.
