Jamaica fight back

Defending champions Jamaica are fighting back against host Guyana after being dismissed for 179 in their fifth round West Indies Cricket Board’s regional one-day tournament at the National Stadium at Providence.



At the lunch break, Guyana chasing 180 runs for victory, were struggling on 17 for two after four overs with Travis Dowlin and Rajendra Chandrika on six runs each.



Earlier, Danza Hyatt top scored for Jamaica with 50 against the bowling of Chris Barnwell three for 21 and Veerasammy Permaul two for 27.



Other useful contributions came from Horace Miller 36 and captain Tamar Lambert, who scored 36.



Jamaica, fourth place in the standings with eight points, need a victory to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-final alive.



Over at the Enmore Community Centre, Barbados, sent in to bat, reached 197 for eight from their allocation of 50 overs against the Windward Islands.



Ryan Hinds got most runs for Barbados with 50 against the bowling of Deighton Butler three for 37 and Darren Sammy two for 49.
