Brown offended by British plans

Premier Ewart Brown says Bermudians should be offended and insulted by Britain\'s plan to investigate the island\'s financial operations.

UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling, announcing the review last week, said it would also oversee financial operations in other British Overseas Territories.

Brown says Bermuda has nothing to fear or hide from the probe.

However, he did not hide his displeasure with the move.

According to Brown, while Britain has supreme authority over Bermuda, it does not contribute one penny to the island’s livelihood.
