The United Nations said homosexuals in Haiti are more at risk for contracting HIV/AIDS as they hide from social programmes due to prejudice and harassment.
Haiti reportedly has the highest HIV infection rates in the Caribbean.
However, the country has seen its infection rate falling from 5.9 percent in 1996 to 2.2 percent this year.
That reduction is said to be due in part to programmes like the United States President\'s emergency plan for AIDS relief.
Meanwhile, yesterday gay men in Haiti staged a march in the western city of St Marc and called for better prevention and treatment in a country long plagued by the virus.
