Recovery underway in Eastern Caribbean battered by Christmas Eve rains
Several communities remained cut-off up to yesterday evening, as Vincentians continued to count their losses as a result of a slow moving low level trough that battered the island for more than 48 hours.
Unconfirmed reports said the bodies of two people had been found yesterday and that the search was still continuing for at least two other people reported missing.
There have been nine confirmed deaths from the floods associated with the heavy rains and winds that began battering the island on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, in St Lucia, electricity and other services were being gradually restored after the rains caused widespread flooding and destruction to the country.
Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony told nationals he could not recall ever seeing such heavy rainfall on Christmas Eve.
At least five deaths have been reported on the island.
