England could sack coach
There is uncertainty over England’s preparation for their West Indies tour later this month as speculation increased yesterday over the sacking of coach Peter Moores.
The Daily Mail in England reported yesterday that Moores could be the major casualty if a bitter rift between himself and captain Kevin Pietersen is not resolved by the England and Wales Cricket Board at a meeting this week.
The report further said that Pietersen had threatened to quit if Moores remained the coach for the West Indies tour, which comprises four Tests and five One-Day Internationals.
England is scheduled to depart for the Caribbean on January 21.
The relationship between Pietersen and Moores broke down further last week after the coach failed to support the return of former captain Michael Vaughan for the West Indies tour.
