Jamaica defeat St Vincent and Grenadines

Jamaica defeated hosts St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-0 last night in their final game of the Caribbean Football Union Under 20 finals to move a step closer to qualify for the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup.



Alonzo Adlam gave Jamaica the lead in the 15th minute while right wingback Leaughn Williams secured the victory with a 50th minute strike.



The Reggae Boyz topped the four-team play-off with seven points, one ahead of St Vincent and the Grenadines.



Haiti hammered Dominican Republic 6-1 in the opening game to finish in third place on four points.



As a result of the victory, Jamaica have guarantee themselves automatic qualification to the eight-nation CONCACAF play-offs in Trinidad and Tobago from March 6 to 15.



Four teams will qualify from the playoffs in T&T to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt from September 25 to October 16.



St Vincent and the Grenadines will have a second opportunity to make the eight-team CONCACAF Under 20 finals, as they will play-off against Honduras for the last spot.



The Young Reggae Boyz are scheduled to arrive at 12.30 p.m.
