Candidates for both parties contesting the Tobago House of Assembly elections were on the weekend making a final push for votes ahead of today’s poll.
Both the People’s National Movement (PNM) and the Tobago Organisation of People - an amalgam of opposition parties - held public meetings Saturday night, seeking to mobilise supporters to turn out and vote.
Nearly 43,000 persons are eligible to cast ballots, an increase of about 4,000 compared to the last election in 2005.
An opinion poll released late last week projected a landslide victory for the PNM, which it said would win either eight or 10 of the dozen seats at stake.
