The Belize government has announced plans to spend about US$100 million on an economic stimulus package.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow said the funds would go toward road building and other infrastructure projects.

The Belize economy has been hit by lower tourism and oil revenues.

Mr. Barrow said the money was being raised from international and regional institutions.

They include the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank and the CARICOM Petroleum Fund.
