Jamaica beat Barbados
Defending champions Jamaica defeated Barbados by six wickets on yesterday’s final day of their fourth-round top-of-the-table regional four-day match at Kensington Park.
As a result of the victory, the Jamaicans have maintain their lead in the seven-team standings moving to 42 points, 15 ahead of Barbados on 27.
The top two are followed by Windward Islands on 24, Trinidad and Tobago 21, Leeward Islands 16, Combined Campuses and Colleges 12 and Guyana 4.
Jamaica set 201 for victory, ended on 203 for four in their second innings with David Bernard undefeated on 60 and Wavell Hinds 59 not out.
Pedro Collins two for 39 and Ryan Hinds two for 53 took the wickets for Barbados.
Final scores Barbados 293 and 221, Jamaica 314 and 203 for four.
At Grove Park in Nevis, leg spinner Anthony Martin snared a career-best seven-wicket haul to lead Leeward Island to a 10-run victory over Guyana before tea.
Set 242 runs to win, Guyana were bowled out for 231.
Final scores Leeward Islands 225 and 245, Guyana 229 and 231.
