England to resume on 236 for five

England will resume this morning on 236 for five against hosts West Indies in the first cricket Test at Sabina Park in Kingston.



The batsmen at the crease are allrounder Andrew Flintoff on 43 and Matt Prior on 27.



On yesterday’s opening day, Kevin Pietersen’s slammed 97 to steer the visitors from early trouble in his first Test since being stripped of the captaincy.



Pietersen struck 12 fours and a six off 172 deliveries to help relieve England from an uncertain 94 for 4 midway through the day.



West Indies spinner Sulieman Benn, who got the wicket of Pietersen, ended the first day with two for 64, while captain Chris Gayle, Jerome Taylor and Daren Powell have taken a wicket apiece.



The other batsmen back in the pavilion are new skipper Andrew Strauss for 7, Alastair Cook 4, Ian Bell 28 and Paul Collingwood 16.
