Village United fined $100,000

The Jamaica Football Federation’s Competitions Committee last night fined village United Football Club $100,000 after fans of the club verbally and physically abused a referee.



The incident took place on January 28 at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny during and after a Digicel Premier League game.



The fans hurled objects at the referee and his car.



The Elliston Wakeland Centre was also put on probation for the rest of the season.



In another incident of object throwing, Rivoli United had their ground put on probation for their next six home games after an incident during a Digicel Premier League game on January 25.



The Competitions Committee also warned Boys’ Town coach Andrew Price after comments he made in the media as it relates to the performance of match officials.



Arnett Gardens’ Under 21 assistant coach Eugene Williams was put on probation for the next five games for verbally abusing a referee.
