The West Indies have taken control of the first test match against England at Sabina Park, closing the second day on 160 for 1. This was in reply to the visitors’ 318 all out.
Both captain Chris Gayle and former vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan scored unbeaten half centuries. Gayle closed the day on 71 while Sarwan made 74. The only success for England was the wicket of opener Devon Smith who fell for six.
Earlier England had resumed on 236 to 5 and added a further 82 runs before their innings folded. Tomorrow, West Indies will look to press home the advantage.
