Jamaica’s women beaten again

Jamaica suffered their second straight defeat when they were beaten 4-1 by Mexico yesterday in the Women’s Pan American Cup hockey tournament at the National Sports Centre in Bermuda.



Jamaica took the lead in the 31st minute through captain Nicole Grant from a penalty corner but Mexico levelled four minutes later when Ahidee Castillo scored with a penalty stroke seconds before the break.



Mexico went ahead in the 57th minute through Michel Hernandez and three minutes later Margarita Rodriquez added a third before Castillo scored again in the 65th minute.



In the other Pool ‘B’ game, the USA defeated Chile 2-nil to maintain their perfect record.



The USA lead with six points, three ahead of Chile and Mexico on three points each and Jamaica on zero.



In Pool ‘B’, Trinidad and Tobago hammered Bermuda 7-nil to record their first victory from two games; and Argentina defeated Canada 4-nil.



Argentina lead that group with maximum six points



The winner of the tournament will qualify for the 2010 World Cup to be held in Rosario, Argentina from August 30 to September 10.
