Wicket-keeper Derwin Christian defied tournament leaders Jamaica with a maiden first-class hundred that revived bottom-place Guyana on yesterday’s third day of their sixth-round regional four-day cricket match at the National Stadium in Guyana.

Christian scored 113 runs to lead Guyana to 301 for nine, replying to Jamaica’s first-innings score of 441 for eight declared.

He shared a 163-run seventh-wicket partnership with his captain Travis Dowlin who finished on 71.

Bowling for Jamaica, Nikita Miller has so far taken three for 64, Andrew Richardson two for 48 and Odean Brown two for 52.

At the North Stars Ground, hosts Barbados defeated Combined Campuses and Colleges by six wickets on yesterday’s third day.

Set 111 to win, Barbados finished on 112 for four.

Final scores are Combined Campuses and Colleges 198 and 183, Barbados 271 and 112 for four.

Trinidad and Tobago’s bid for an outright win over the Leeward Islands suffered a setback yesterday when rain badly affected the third’s day play.

Rain allowed just one over after lunch at the UWI’s Sir Frank Worrell Ground in T&T with the host country on a solid 101 for one, an overall lead of 229 runs.

Scores are T&T 349 and 101 for one, Leeward Islands 221.
