Jamaican jockey Wesley Henry had to settle for the runner-up spot in yesterday’s Coconut Grove Stake at Gulfstream Park racetrack in Florida with the front-running filly OIL GONE WILE.
OIL GONE WILE led for most of the trip but the 11 to one beat GOZZIP GIRL finished fast and moved clear to win the 150 thousand US-dollar event by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
The Jamaican pair of trainer Kirk Ziadie and Andrew Ramgeet recorded victories in Florida at the weekend.
Ziadie stayed atop of trainers’ standing in the current Tampa Bay Down meets after his seven year old gelding OTIS RIDGE in the fourth race on Saturday.
And Ramgeet won the third race aboard favourite CONCHACER TO and climbed to sixth in the jockeys’ standings.
