Preparations for the 2011 World Cup are a year behind schedule said Haroon Lorgat, chief executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
After discussing World Cup plans with officials from its four host nations, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Lorgat said the organisers must also have contingency plans that included flexibility on venues.
Lorgat asked the four joint hosts to consider shifting matches from one city to another or to another country if the situation required.
Eight of the 15 host cities are in India, four in Pakistan, two in Sri Lanka and one in Bangladesh.
Lorgat said the reluctance of teams to tour Pakistan was not an issue at this stage. He said it is too early to be concerned at this stage.
