New Zealand cancel tour of Pakistan
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has called off its December tour to Pakistan a day after a deadly attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore left six police officers and a driver dead and seven players, a coach and an official with injuries.
NZC Chief Executive, Justin Vaughan said his organization decided to cancel the scheduled tour, but would be prepared to discuss meeting Pakistan at a neutral venue.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) said it will be difficult for international cricket team to return to Pakistan following the attack on the Sri Lanka team.
The ruling body is reviewing Pakistan’s status as co-host of the 2011 One-Day World Cup in the wake of the attack.
The ICC will meet in Dubai next month to discuss whether to redistribute the matches among India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the other World Cup co-hosts.
