US administration meet Darfur NGOs

Officials of US President Barack Obama\'s administration have reportedly met with non-governmental organisations operating in Darfur, after the Sudanese president ordered all aid groups to leave the country.

The move by the Sudanese government to throw out all aid groups comes a day after the International Criminal Court at The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.

The warrant stems from a five-year campaign of violence in Darfur.

The United Nations estimates that 300,000 people have been killed in the conflict in western Sudan\'s Darfur region, while 2.5 million have been forced to leave their homes.

The US officials want the Sudanese government to reconsider its decision.

The officials are concerned that if the order is carried out, the Sudanese threat could prompt a humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
