JFF fires coaches
Jamaica’s National Under 20 football coach Donovan Duckie and his assistant Lenworth Hyde were fired with immediate effect yesterday.
The coaches were sacked following the young Reggae Boys’ failure to qualify for the Under-20 World Cup finals in Egypt later this year.
The young Reggae Boyz failed to qualify when they were beaten 4-0 by Honduras in Tobago on March 10 after needing only a draw to book their place.
President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), Captain Horace Burrell made the announcement at a meeting held with the staff members yesterday at the Federation’s office.
Captain Burrell says the decision was made following the recommendation of the JFF’s Technical Committee, which was instructed to examine the reasons for the team’s failure to advance to the World Cup Finals.
