The diplomatic dispute between the St. Lucia opposition party and the Taiwanese Ambassador has escalated.
Opposition leader Kenny Anthony has warned that it will treat the Ambassador Tom Chou as a functionary of the ruling party, and will boycott all diplomatic functions hosted by him on the island.
The St Lucia Labour Party has also complained about the Ambassador’s alleged undiplomatic behaviour, following the opening of a learning centre funded by the Taiwanese Embassy in the constituency of a government minister.
Mr. Anthony has since described the action as an insult to St Lucians, and has called for the ambassador’s resignation.
