At least 15 people have died after a passenger train ploughed into a stationary cargo train in Tanzania.

Officials say bodies of other victims may still be trapped in the wreckage in the Dodoma region of central Tanzania.

Dodoma\'s regional commissioner, William Lukuvi says he fears the number of those killed will rise.

He says cranes have been ordered to move the wreckage of the trains after the crash, which occurred yesterday.

In 2002, more than 200 people were killed and hundreds more wounded when a freight train collided with a passenger train outside Dodoma.

That collision was described as the worst rail accident in the country\'s history.
