India, New Zealand play to draw

Gautam Gambhir batted nearly 11 hours for 137 and V.V.S. Laxman made 124 not out to ensure that India draw the second test against hosts New Zealand in Napier today.



India, who resumed the final day on 252 for two, still 62 runs behind New Zealand, reached 476 for four when the game was called off.



India trailed New Zealand by 314 runs on first innings.



Also getting among the runs for India were Rahul Dravid 62, Sachin Tendulkar 64 and Yuvraj Singh 54 not out.



Jeetan Patel was the most successful bowler for New Zealand with two for 120.



Final scores in the game:- New Zealand 619 for nine declared; India 305 and 476 for four.



India hold a 1-nil lead courtesy of their 10-wicket win in Hamilton.



The third test begins on Friday in Wellington.
