JRC nullifies last year’s JRTA elections

The Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) has ruled that the March 30, 2008 elections, which returned Vincent Edwards as president of the Jamaica Racehorse Trainers Association (JRTA) is null and void.

The general manager of the JRC Ruth-Ann Smith-Sutherland says the lawyers involved have been informed that a proper election was not held.

She further says the JRTA should now arrange for a new election.

The election was under investigation after an irate group of trainers and assistant trainers asked the JRC to intervene.

Edwards had defeated Frank Parham 43 to 8 to win a second term.

The group of trainers had claimed that the election disenfranchised more than a half of the licensed trainers and assistants at Caymanas Park.

Vin Edwards says he is yet to be informed about the decision.

Edwards further says he has the support to win again.
