England beat Ukraine

John Terry kept England firmly on course for next summer’s World Cup in South Africa leading his team to a two to one victory over Ukraine at Wembley today.



The victory stretched England’s winning streak to five wins out of five in World Cup qualifying.



The England captain scored from close range in the 85th minute as England stayed five points clear at the top of Group six in the European qualifying.



In the other Group six game, Belarus defeated Kazakhstan five to one.



Over in France, Franck Ribery scored his second goal in five days against Lithuania to lead France to a one-nil World Cup qualifying win.



Serbia lead the group with 12 points from five matches. France are second with 10 points but still has to play Serbia again.



Over in Italy, Robbie Keane scored in the 89th minute to give Ireland a one all draw with 10-man Italy.



Italy, the defending World Cup champion, lead Group eight with 14 points, followed by Ireland with 12 points and Bulgaria with seven.
