Defending champions Holmwood Technical and Kingston College remain out front on today’s third day of the four-day ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships at the National Stadium.



Holmwood Technical have taken charge of the girls’ race with 73 points after nine finals, 33 ahead of second place St Hugh’s High on 30. The top five is completed by Edwin Allen on 34, St Jago on 29 and Vere Technical on 26.



With seven boys’ finals completed, the Michael Russell-coached Kingston College lead the way with 70 points, 13 ahead of defending champions Calabar in second place with 57 points.



The top two are followed by Jamaica College on 50, Wolmer’s on 37 and Bridgeport on 14.



Calabar, moved to second place, with a first place and fourth place finish in the Boys’ Class Two Shot Put Final.



Ashinia Miller won the gold medal with a record throw of 17 point four to one metres, while Johnathan Lynford of St George’s College took the silver with a throw of 15 point five to one.



In the day’s other completed Boys’ Final, the Class three Long Jump, Clive Pullen of KC won with a leap of six point nine to nine metres, ahead of JC’s Nicholas Phynn, who recorded six point eight to one metres.



Earlier, Holmwood Technical had a one-two finish in the Girls’ Open Javelin Throw final.



Shakeisha Miller won with a throw of 36 point eight to eight metres, ahead of teammate Cassandra Bennett who recorded 35 point five to six metres.
