World Cup qualifying round up

Over in South Africa Amjad Javed hit 164 today to lead the United Arab Emirates, UAE, to a 112-run win over Denmark in the group stages of qualifying for the 2011 World Cup.



Javed smashed 17 fours and eight sixes from 117 balls as the UAE scored 379 for six in 50 overs, the highest total of the tournament.



Denmark scored at six runs per over at one stage, with Freddie Klokker hitting 77 of 79 balls and Michael Pedersen 60 off 56 balls, but were eventually dismissed for 267 in 44 point four overs.



Tournament favorite Ireland cruised to a six-wicket win over Canada, with Kevin O\'Brien and Eoin Morgan sharing an unbroken 181-run partnership. O\'Brien scored 89 and Morgan 84.



In other matches, Namibia defeated Oman by 119 runs, Kenya beat Bermuda by seven wickets despite Bermudan batsman David Hemp hitting 102 not out and The Netherlands defeated Afghanistan by five wickets despite Karim Khan collecting 72 off 101 balls.
