Germany breaks child porn ring

Police in Germany said they have broken up a child pornography network suspected of involving around nine thousand people in more than 90 countries.

Officers said obscene images of serious sexual abuse were being sent over the internet to countries in Europe, as well as the US, Canada and New Zealand.

They said 500 computers and 43 thousand storage devices were seized, and a number of people were arrested following raids across Germany.

German police are tomorrow expected to sign agreements with internet service providers to make it harder to access websites posting child pornography.
