West Indies fight back

Lendl Simmons scored the first century of the England tour to lead West Indies to 315 for six declared on today’s second day of the three-day tour match against Leicestershire at Grace Road.



The 24 year old batsman, who resumed this morning on 21 with the West Indies on 80 for four, hit a superb 102 before retiring hurt.



He shared a 154-run stand spanning 30 overs with Brendan Nash, who retired hurt on 78.



Captain Denesh Ramdin scored 36 from 67 balls, while Sulieman Benn was undefeated on 23 off 29 balls.



Leicestershire, who made 182 in the first innings on yesterday’s opening day, were 51 for one in their second innings at the close of play.



Pacer Andrew Richardson has taken the only wicket to fall.



West Indies are scheduled to play two other warm-up games before the start of the Test series at Lord’s on May 6.
