Manchester United returned to the English Premier League summit with a 2-nil win over Portsmouth, while Chelsea and Everton drew nil-all at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils lost the top spot just 24 hours ago after Liverpool’s thrilling 4-all draw with Arsenal.
However, goals from Wayne Rooney, ninth minute, and Michael Carrick 82nd, sent Sir Alex Ferguson’s side back to the top, with a game in hand on Liverpool.
