Jamaica pick up six netball awards
Champions Jamaica picked up six awards at the just-concluded Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Youth Under-16 Championship.
The championship ended on Wednesday night at the National Indoor Sports Centre with the young Sunshine Girls defending their title by whipping Trinidad and Tobago 45 to 15.
The Jamaicans have now won their eighth title in nine appearances at the tournament.
Deneen Taylor walked away with two awards for Jamaica. She was voted Most Valuable Player and Most Outstanding Player.
Jamaica also won the Team Shooting award, Best Goal Average, Best Defending Team and Best Team on Parade.
The President’s Award to the Youngest Player went to Guyana’s Simonica Fanfair, while the Young Achiever’s Award went to Joann Anderson of St Lucia and Sade-Mariah Greenidge of Barbados.
The Highest Individual Score award went to Barbadian Shannon Hackett, while Liana Benjamin of Cayman Islands won the Most Accurate Shooter award.
