Jamaica’s Bolt pulls out of Saturday meet

Organizers of the 150-metre street race in Manchester, England, Nova International, say they are hoping that Beijing Olympic triple gold medallist Usain Bolt recovers from a car crash to honour his commitment.

Bolt’s has been booked to run in the 150-metre street race on May 17.

However, organizers are worried after Bolt pulled out of the Jamaica International Invitational at the National Stadium scheduled for tomorrow despite escaping serious injured in a car crash on Wednesday.

Bolt’s agent, Ricky Simms, says the 23-year-old sprinter will skip the meet as a precaution.

He further says it is too early to determine whether other races will be affected.

David Hart, Nova International’s communications director says they are hoping that Bolt recovers and is fit to run because it will be a tremendous spectacle.

The day will also feature Haile Gebrselassie, the marathon world record-holder, but Hart says it will be the presence of Bolt later in the day that will draw the fans.

Bolt was treated for abrasions to his feet at the Spanish Town hospital after his 2009 BMW M3 Coupe ran off the road on Highway 2000 and crashed in a ditch near Spanish Town.
