The government of Mexico is continuing its five-day shutdown of parts of its economy in a bid to slow the spread of the swine flu virus.

Officials say non-essential government services will come to a standstill, while businesses like cinemas and restaurants will be closed.

Traditional May Day rallies have also been cancelled.

Some factories will also stop production and schools are already closed.

Residents have been urged to stay at home.
