Discarded West Indies batsman Wavell Hinds stroked 95 for Derbyshire yesterday in a losing effort against Lancashire in their Friends Provident Trophy limited over match at Old Trafford in England.
The Jamaican left-hander top-scored in Derbyshire’s total of 240 for six off 50 overs and Lancashire responded with 241 for two off 46.3 for an easy win in the Group ‘D’ match.
Sent to bat, Derbyshire profited from a 104-run third wicket stand between Hinds and Steve Stubbings 50.
The 32 year old Hinds played with authority and his 96-ball knock contained nine fours and two sixes before he fell five short of a 100.
Lancashire cruised to victory behind an unbeaten 111 from Paul Horton and 101 not out from Mark Chilton.
