St Lucian Prime Minister, Stephenson King, is to meet labor leaders today in an effort to stave off more industrial unrest in the country.

The government has said it cannot grant public sectors workers more than a 7.5 percent pay increase, due to tight finances.

The Trade Union Federation has rejected the proposal, and public sector workers took strike action last month.

The federation\'s president Julian Morose has warned the Prime Minister against carrying out the job cuts the government says might be necessary.

Mr. Morose is suggesting that the government make cuts in other areas.
