West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith smashed 49 off 23 balls but the Deccan Chargers lost by 78 runs to Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League Twenty/Twenty match at Buffalo Park in South Africa today.
Needing 179 runs to win, Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 100 off 14 point 4 overs against the bowling of Shadab Jakati four for 22, Albie Morkel two for 24 and Muttiah Muralitharan two for 11.
Earlier, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni topscored for Chennai Super Kings with an unbeaten 58, while opener Matthew Hayden supported with a quick-fire 43 off 26 balls.
The victory takes Chennai Super Kings to the top of the Indian Premier League standings.
