Update: Kerron Stewart wins with meet record
Jamaican Kerron Stewart won the women’s 100 metres in a meet record at the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix in Doha today.
The Beijing Olympic silver medallist clocked a fast 10.93 seconds to win ahead of American Stephanie Durst, 11.15, and Jamaican Sheri-Ann Brooks 11.20.
In the men’s equivalent, Michael Frater of Jamaica had to settle for second in 10.15. American Travis Padgett won the event in 10 seconds flat, equaling the year’s best time.
Jamaican Nesta Carter finished seventh in 10.34.
In the 400 metres, Jamaican Shericka Williams was third in 51.08 seconds. American Allyson Felix easily won with a world-leading time of 50.75 seconds.
Lacena Golding Clarke of Jamaica finished fourth in the women’s 100-metre hurdle with a time of 12.78. Canadian Priscilla Lopes-Schliep won in 12.52.
And Maurice Wignal of Jamaica was sixth in the men’s 110-metre hurdles with a time of 13.53. American David Oliver was the winner in 13.09.
Jamaican distance runner Mardrea Hyman also appeared at the meet and placed tenth in the women’s 3000 steepechase in 10:08:05 seconds behind Kenyan winner Ruth Bisibori Nyangau in 9:32:68.
