Portmore United suffers defeat to Boys' Town

Leaders Portmore United yesterday suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to fourth place Boys’ Town at Collie Smith Drive to leave the title race for the Digicel National Premier League wide open.



The defending champions, who had their eight-point lead slashed to five by Arnett Gardens on Wednesday has now suffered their second consecutive defeat and now lead by two points with two matches remaining in the season.



Second place Tivoli Gardens are now a real threat after beating sixth place Waterhouse 1-nil at Drewsland Mini Stadium and will now face off with Portmore United in the penultimate game on Wednesday.



Harbour View remain in third after beating Arnett Gardens 2-1 at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.



In the relegation battle, last place Reno edged ninth place Sporting Central Academy 3-2 at Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland, second-from-the-bottom Village United and eight place Rivoli played to a 1-all draw at Spanish Town Prison Oval, while third-from-the-bottom Meadhaven United and seventh place St Georges Sports Club battled to a 1-all draw at Constant Spring.
